MY LATEST DISPATCH FROM MID-MAY FROM MY BLOG HTTP://MOLLYDISPATCHES.BLOGSPOT.COM
I don’t remember a specific moment when I learned right from wrong. Clearly I learned it, over time, from my parents, grandparents and teachers and others, but I don’t remember a single conversation where I was sat down and told right, wrong, good, bad, moral. Moral. That word has so many connotations. In the last several years it seems that and the word values have been co-opted– people talk about “values educatio…

Destiny. What a powerful word. And the great thing about it? Everyone has one! You have a destiny! Another great thing about destiny? We have a significant role in shaping our own destiny! In essence, you can choose your date with destiny - powerful!
Your destiny is the dream that lies within you of your desired and preferred future. And the things that we choose each day are what lead us to that destiny: Our actions, our words, our attitudes, and our relationships. They all add up to develop a…

Hi my name is Charmaine Terrell. I am currently attending Minneapolis Community & Technical College. The name of my team for public achievement is the clean crew. I came up with the name for the public achievement project because our team name is clean city. I coached at the Inter District Downtown School located in the downtown area in Minneapolis. I have learned as a citizen the rights of individuals and contributions to his or her community. This has given me the power and the ability to…

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about college education, particularly writing instruction, and the implicit exclusivity that accompanies the rigid university standards. I keep coming back to a quote by Nancy Grimm, author and researcher on writing and literacy, who wrote
Good Intentions: Writing Center Work for Postmodern Times. She notes, "To the student who grew up in a different literacy and with a different view of the social structure, the value of and the reasons for an assignment…

Hi all,
I want to briefly share something that happened at WKU last week.
Two years ago a group of students started "Green Toppers" (we are the WKU Hilltoppers) in order to discuss issues related to environmental sustainability and find ways of promoting green practices on our campus. They had a number of discouraging experiences early on as they realized how difficult it is to change a campus culture. Their first big success was overhauling our recycling program to accept cardboard, glass, an…

By the official definition of the People's Republic of China, standard Mandarin uses:
The phonology or sound system of Beijing. A distinction should be made between the sound system of a dialect or language and the actual pronunciation of words in it. The pronunciations of words chosen for Standard Mandarin -- a standardized speech -- do not necessarily reproduce those of the Beijing dialect. The pronunciation of words is a standardization choice and occasional standardization differences (not a…

Rubber Rooms are the most glaringly obvious example of the Bloomberg Administration disregard for Human Rights. The "buzz" is that talking about the rubber rooms is dangerous. Teachers and organizations that deem themselves radical won't even breach the subject.
What does this say about us as Teachers, Social Leaders, Humanitarians and/or Activist when we sit back silently and allow the current administration to use rubber rooms to destroy innocent Teachers,Whistle blowers and students lives.…

If you are searching for an anti aging treatment that works you are not alone. It is estimated that last year Americans spent just under $72 billion on finding the right anti aging treatment. In the ancient world many people tended to believe that an anti aging solution could be found in curative waters of some type, eg the fountain of youth. From the ancient Greeks to the more recent explorations of Ponce De Leon anti aging treatment has focused on this. In modern history, we've outgrown the

As a symbol of
Chinese food, Jiaozi, Chinese dumpling is a must at a lot of Chinese festivals, especially on the occasion of Chinese New Year’s eve. A story says Jiaozi was invented by Doctor Zhang Zhongjing, a famous Chinese doctor in ancient China, to save poor people from frostbite as filling dough with meat and traditional Chinese medicine.
The pronunciation of Jiaozi came from the tradition o…
