I wanted to contact you to invite you to apply for a media program with peers in the Caucasus. PH International is now recruiting 14-16 year olds interested in using media for social change. DOTCOM is a program for media-savvy and civically-engaged American and Caucasus youth. Through DOTCOM, students will gain media literacy skills and create socially conscious media to impact communities across the U.S. and the Caucasus.
Ninety students – including 30 U.S. students – will be selected to participate in online training to create media that fosters civic action and community involvement. Among the 90 students involved in the program, ten students from each country will participate in an advanced media education program in Vermont in the summer of 2009. All students will then travel to Azerbaijan, Armenia and then the Republic of Georgia for a regional media conference in Tbilisi to showcase their media to an audience that will include the Department of State, UNICEF, media organizations and NGOs. Not only is the conference an opportunity to share your media, but it's also a chance to advocate for youth issues that matter to you. It's important to note that the program is sponsored by the Department of State, so expenses are covered.
Program details are on the website – http://dotcom.ph-int.org. You’re also welcome to join the DOTCOM page on Facebook.
Thanks for your feedback and for sharing this opportunity with friends involved in media. If you have any questions, let me know!!
Many many thanks,
Elizabeth
