What did you learn in your high school years that made you who you are today?

Thanks so much for leaving the message! I teach until the close of your business day, so that really helped. Here's how it reads now. Let me know if this is fine to go as it is. (I need to push the button today, but can certainly change something if it's incorrect.)
When Kate McAnelly, principal of Beaumont Middle School in Lexington, Ky., got the e-mail from her superintendent about the July academy, she said she was instantly intrigued, as her school has a very diverse population, which can be challenging to manage. She wasn’t disappointed.
“The week was phenomenal,” she said. “It was so great to be around 40 other principals from all across the nation, to hear similar problems and ideas on how to make our schools more of a democratic community.”
This fall, she said, the school has instituted two of the ideas from the conference. Clubs and teams are all doing community service projects, and the school’s student council for the first time held school-wide elections for its officers, complete with campaign speeches.
Me again. I'm really up against a drop dead deadline for the Quill article, and need to freshen up your quote to show that you actually went, versus were planning to . (Close of business on Monday.) I'm hoping you can give me a call at 509-963-1063 or 509-607-0124). Thanks!
Cynthia
I've been off the site for a few weeks now -- mainly working hard to meet two magazine deadlines about FA stuff. (For which I thank you for helping!) I recall hearing from you that you'd be happy to talk some more post-conference, which I'll likely need to do, as Quill, the magazine published by the Society of Professional Journalists, isn't going to run my piece about the new focus on administrators until December. The deadline will be mid October, so I'll definitely want to update the article to reflect the fact that the Leadership Academy is over, versus coming up! (The first publication of the article will be in this fall's CJET:Communication: Journalism Education Today, the mag that goes to h.s. media advisers who are members of the Journalism Education Association. Its deadline is past, however, so no update possible on that one.
Maybe we can talk next M-W-Fr? I've caught a blog post or two from folks at the academy. I'm 100% SURE it was awesome, based on the one-day workshop Sam did for us. So I look forward to hearing your take! Let me know if you can talk and when next week...(And re-send your number to call.)
