While I expected this outcome, I would like to know what the teacher’s reasons actually were. If the reason for the teacher’s response was based upon some type of viewpoint discrimination I think this would be a clear violation of the student’s Cons…

How would you answer the question of the month? What is the role of courage in democracy?

Hey Dave! There's a good discussion in the Center for Scholastic Journalism group -- it's about the anniversary of Tinker -- check it out and share your take on the issue . . .

Hi Dave,
That sounds like a great post for the Soapbox! Would you share it there? It doesn't have to be a FA issue to be of interest and value... like you say, it is one to pay attention to!
Good to hear from you - I hope your holidays were enjoyable and that 2009 is one of the best yet!

Hey Dave! It was great to see you at LEAP. It's been a super intense few days here in Chi-town. Tomorrow we're screening the results of a three-day youth media project at The Freedom Museum in downtown Chicago! Looking forward to being in touch when I get back to BP and the dust settles a little. Thanks again for being my tour guide of DC's mecca for First Amendment geeks like us.

tomorrow it is -- and the best idea will be to have an admin other than Joanne, to build greater capacity in the school/district.

Dave,

Hellooo out there! Did you see my email about the Leadership/Youth Media Academy this September in Chicago? I think this could be a great way to build capacity at your school and/or district. But I need to know ASAP if you're interested. Give me a SHOUT.

Hi Dave!

Great to hear from you. Unfortunately I will not be in DC this summer. I am living in MA, starting in on my thesis research and doing work for the Mass ASCD, developing a student outreach project around the Whole Child initiative. How was the conference? I hope all is well with you and at Northport!

Talk to you soon,

Sarah

Hi Dave! It's great that the kiddos will have a chance to scope out DC this summer. I'm sorry I won't be there to reconnect with you all this time around, but I'll definitely stay in the loop. The BP team and I are putting together some intensive orientation materials around issues of student voice this summer so we can kick off the school year in full force... I may be emailing you to pick your brain a little as the planning progresses. In the meantime, I hope you and the family have a great trip. Hug my people for me and let's reconnect later in the summer.

By the way, would love to see pix of the pooch... I like her already 'cause she's got a cool name.

Hey Dave, Nice to see you here! With the school year winding down and the summer beginning to stretch in front of me for real, I'm looking forward to reconnecting with my FAS peeps! Drop a line when you get a moment!
