First Name:
Conor
Last Name:
Sands
Hometown:
Amherst
School/Organization Name:
none
Job Title:
none
City:
Amherst
State:
New Hampshire
My Story:
Went through the public education system and didn't revolt until some point in high school. Still maintaining the pressured thought that I had to go to college I attended one semester at UNH Manchester. After which I pursued management work, later some technical work and now I am happy at the social forum. Bar tending and sharing my ideas on a personal level.
My Ideal School is a Place Where:
I can hear myself think and focus on my own thoughts. Technical advice is unneeded until I have reached a sort of critical mass in thought. I find that being force fed ideas of the established courses has only lead me to confused states and in as such keeps me from original thoughts.
My Religious Views:
Spiritualism is good, organized religion as a corperation is bad
My Political Views:
If there is a beast in this world it is our fathers creation of government
My Favorite Freedom:
to have and voice an opinion that differs from the status quo
My Personal Motto:
Think in terms of 'I am' while ignoring those that say 'you should be'.
My Favorite Journey:
The one that everyone goes on each night... dreaming

Remember when you were a kid and everything was new and interesting? When you opened your eyes each day to new wonders and curiosities?

The funny thing is... the world didn't go anywhere. The sun still rises and sets. the wind still blows and the birds still chirp. What did go somewhere is the fascination.

When we are children very often we have a drive to pick something up... feel it weigh it and apply it to our day. Without this motivation it's not likely we would ever get t… Continue

Howdy :-) I'm SO glad that you joined - and that you're sharing your wonderfully valuable perspective. Hope you keep adding your voice to the mix in this online community - jump into the discussions, start your own, write a blog... and add a photo (I can help with that)!

Here's my "official" welcome, just to make sure you get the scoop - Love you!

Welcome to the Five Freedoms Network. It's great to have you here -- how did you hear about us?

As you can see from the world map on our home page, we have a growing, eclectic community of individuals from across the globe -- from Brooklyn to Pakistan, from North Dakota to China. Thank you for taking the time to add your voice to that fascinating mix.

As you surf around the Network and its companion site, www.fivefreedoms.org, I urge you to share your voice throughout. Take our You Be The Judge First Amendment quiz (a new scenario every two weeks). Leave a comment on a fellow member's personal page and make a new contact. Upload a video to our gallery, or watch and react to one already there. Join (or start) a group or visit the Soapbox to contribute to (or start) a discussion. And invite others to join us.

In short, use your voice to co-create our online community :-)

You may also be interested in taking a look at our companion site - the or. The section on "What We Value" includes a variety of resources about the five freedoms of the First Amendment, our leadership framework, student voice, and impact factors.

Post a comment on my page anytime with questions or ideas. And please, the next time you're online, upload a photo to your personal profile -- the easiest way to make a virtual network feel more personal is by seeing each other's faces (and profile answers). Thanks again!
