I do in fact support national standards as well as more standardized teacher requirements across the country. No, I don't support a national pay standard for teachers but, like students, teachers need to adhere to the same sets of requirements. Nati…
I am a high school American govt., history, and economics teacher. I am concerned about all of our freedoms in this country. The freedom I am concerned most about is freedom of speech and worry that it will continue to be eroded under a locked Supreme Court.
My Ideal School is a Place Where:
the need for gestapo-like techniques is unncecessary and illegal. I understand that some campuses, built for 1000 kids now house 3xs that many and it is necessary to institute rules to assure student-staff safety. HOWEVER, these rules must not extend to restricting and/or censoring either symbolic or pure speech.
My Religious Views:
Religion has no place in public schools-not even under the guise of "moments" of silence.
My Political Views:
Progressive LIBERAL
My Favorite Freedom:
FREEDOM OF SPEECH
My Personal Heroes:
Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Paine, Abraham Lincoln,Mary Wollstonecraft. ELIZABETH I, Alice Paul, Bob Dylan,Leonardo DiCaprio, Don Cheadle, George Clooney, Sara McLauglin, PETA PEEPS, ACLU

To thine own self be true...

Hi Brenda Sue, and welcome to the Five Freedoms Network. It's great to have you here -- how did you hear about us?
I love the diversity of your personal heroes! Your passion shines through in your profile - as well as in response to this month's Question. Thank you! I look forward to more conversation.
As you can see from the world map on our home page, we have a growing, eclectic community of individuals from across the globe -- from Brooklyn to Pakistan, from North Dakota to China. Thank you for taking the time to add your voice to that fascinating mix.
As you surf around the Network and its companion site, www.fivefreedoms.org, I urge you to share your voice throughout. Take our You Be The Judge First Amendment quiz (a new scenario every two weeks). Leave a comment on a fellow member's personal page and make a new contact. Upload a video to our gallery, or watch and react to one already there. Join (or start) a group or visit the Soapbox to contribute to (or start) a discussion. And invite others to join us.
In short, use your voice to co-create our online community :-)
You may also be interested in taking a look at our companion site - the or. The section on "What We Value" includes a variety of resources about the five freedoms of the First Amendment, our leadership framework, student voice, and impact factors.
Post a comment on my page anytime with questions or ideas. And please, the next time you're online, upload a photo to your personal profile -- the easiest way to make a virtual network feel more personal is by seeing each other's faces (and profile answers). Thanks again!
