If anyone or anything is interfering with that students education , he or she should report the problem . Any students input is always welcome . James Kuykendall

Kim, I'm an Aussie and I'm old so I don't expect to create many waves nor much notice taken. I've had a long but wonderful period in primary'elementary schooling and my credentials can be checked on http://primaryschooling.net where I press the point for school systems to be run by experienced teachers.
I once was a Regional Director [School Superintendent ?] of an outback area that was bigger than Texas. I am conscious that nothing is supposed to be bigger than Texas. It was in my years there [where I also inspected all state and convent schools] that I learned so much from young teachers and neophyte principals. It was there that I developed a concept of Shared Evaluation'. I go with the Stufflebeam edict that ' the business of evaluation is not to prove, but to improve.' Therefore I reckon that it is immoral to assign a mark or a grade to a person without having shared the effort with the owner. I came across some very useful devices that covered the major efforts of daily classroom efforts. After all, a teacher cannot be with each pupil for every little thing that pupils do. I'll wager that many of your friends have an endless number of such devices.
There are vital differences between the meaning of evaluation, assessment and testing. The pupils role is more than crucial in each. It is sacrosanct.
Sharing and encouraging effort is part of the pupilling contract.
